Picking a Vice President may be one of the trickiest things a Presidential candidate may have to do. The tricky thing is, a good choice won't really sway many people to your cause, but a bad choice will send the voters running. Another thing the voter must consider is that the Vice president is only one heartbeat away from being the leader of our country. After seeing some of the recent picks(and our current VP that should scare the hell out of the voter).
What makes a good Vice president? Well, a good VP is smart and educated for starters. They should also compliment the Presidential candidate. The VP candidate should cover the Presidential candidates flaws. If the Presidential candidate has a reputation for being weak on foreign affairs, the VP candidate should have a very strong background in foreign affairs. The VP candidate should also not be a loudmouth or detract people away from your base. A good candidate will support the Presidential candidate without putting their foot in their mouth. A good example of putting your foot in your mouth is Joe Biden saying something to the effect of the Republicans wanting to put black people and minorities in chains. I believe they call that an oh sh*t moment. Obviously the Republicans do not want slavery or to put anyone other than terrorists in chains. Besides being flat out wrong it detracted voters from Obama's cause and in no way stated why we should vote for him. Dumb, dumb dumb!
Another bad example of a VP candidate is Sarah Palin. God bless her soul, she is obviously a nice person. She is a smart and successful person, but she is flat out annoying to listen to. Unfortunately speaking is a big part of being VP and no one wanted to hear what she had to say. She did a very good job of firing up the base but she drove away many more voters than she brought in.
In short I believe that the Vice Presidential candidate is an important person to look at when deciding to vote for. They cast a key swing vote when needed in the Senate and they are one heartbeat away from being President.

An opinion of a "Rich" American
Last time I posted it was September 11th and both Obama and Romney were taking some time off with the attack adds. Its amazing the difference a week makes. The attack adds are back...and with a vengeance. To me they start out a little amusing and about the 15th time I see the same commercial during a one hour television show I get annoyed. Sometimes it kind of sucks living in a swing state.
Today, while I was avoiding paying attention in Spanish class I was reading Facebook (please don't judge me). I saw a post that was actually meaningful in nature, which is something new and is why it caught my attention. The post was a political post about why someone will vote for Romney instead of Obama. taxes. With all the talk about the economy and government funded programs, it is forgotten how those are paid for.
This was a post from a Facebook friend that will remain anonymous by their request.
To me this post put into words my feelings that I could not put in to words. In the end raising taxes on the "upper class" will hurt everyone. Sure the so called rich people will survive, but what will happen to the man who owns the small business that helps them with their yards? Well folks, he will probably go out of business. The money the "rich" man uses to pay him is call discretionary spending. That means when money gets tight with the "rich" man he will start cutting his ow yard instead of helping out a small business. This same principal is applied to the cleaning service that the "rich" man uses.
Take it or leave it, it is just food for thought.

OK, I heard a report on the radio while driving to work about how the immigrant population in Northern Virginia will most likely vote for the Obama administration in November because they believe his policies will best take care of them. What I don't understand is how no one is telling them that if the Obama administration continues to increase spending that has to be paid by tax payers, families/individuals like me will have to cut the jobs of the people I hire to help me. I for one will most likely have to lay off four separate independents/small business people to cut my monthly household expenses to offset the impact to my income thanks to the Obama administration. How do you explain that to all those who believe the Obama administration will best take care of them?

Final Paper Sources
It is not hard to get caught up in a moment and lose sight of one's goals. With all the excitement of having my own blog I forgot that the end goal was a paper! There really is no excuse, but 10 hour days at work combined with school and sports makes for a very hectic life.
So, now that I remember I need to write a paper for this I need sources. A good source can make or break a paper. Which makes picking them very hard and stressful(at least for me). I'm thinking that since this is a political blog my sources need to represent both sides of the political argument while showing which side I think is right. Everyone is allowed to have an opinion as long as it is grounded in facts and not emotion.
I think good sources would be blogs by well known political people, from both sides of the aisle, written on the same topic. This would show how two different people can have different opinions based on their readings of the same facts. It would be a good representation to show the reader that they must find the facts out on their own because neither side will give you the 100% truth.

A slow day in politics...
Today both candidates took a day off from attacking each other. Personally it is quite a relief to be able to watch television and not have every other commercial be one candidate saying something ridiculous about the other. This is coming from someone who likes the game of politics. There comes a point where all of us reach our lie saturation point and get annoyed...I think that I finally hit mine for now. I hope this short break has helped us all decompress from election news because it will start again first thing tomorrow morning.
One thing I saw on the news today that piqued my interest was that Mr.Obama declined to meet with Mr.Netanyahu(Israel's prime minister). A press release said he declined the meeting because "their schedules weren't synced up. Seriously? Mr.Netanyahu represents the USA's best ally in the Middle East and our President couldn't make time to have lunch with the man? There has got to be more here. To me this looks like a snub. Since Obama has been elected they have had a strained relationship but they have been able to sit down and have conversations. Is this a sign that their relationship is frayed to the point of no return? No one but Mr.Obama and Mr.Netanyahu know for sure. Let us hope this is not the case and that I am mistaken. For if we must take action against Iran we will need Israel on our side.

September 11
I'd like to take a break from politics for one post. September 11 2001 terrorists flew two planes into the world trade center, one plane into the Pentagon and a last plane was crashed into a Pennsylvania field. This break from politics is a sign of my respect for those who lost their life that day.

Week 2
If you are in to politics this month is an exciting month!!! Last week we got to see the Republican national convention(RNC). Then this week we have to Democratic national convention(DNC). This is an exciting opportunity to learn about both of the presidential candidates and you would be a fool not to pay attention to both, no matter which side of aisle you sit on.
As you can see these numbers tell a completely different story than Ms.Pelosi's numbers. Giving her the benefit of the doubt I'm going to believe that she was either misinformed or she was given the gross numbers and not the net numbers. Granted the Washington Post is a right wing site so their numbers may also be a little slanted, but it shows you that the real job numbers are somewhere in the middle.
That is all for this week! Please stay informed and make sure if you're eligible to vote you do. Many people have died for your right to vote. Don't let their sacrifice be in vein.

Republican National Convention
WOW. This week had one of the major events of the election season...the republican national convention! No matter which side of the aisle you stand on this is an informative and huge event. If you're a democrat this event shows you what you are up against in the coming weeks. If you happen to stand on the right side of the aisle they attempt to show you who you are voting for, giving you a reason the vote for Mitt and not just against Obama.
In my short and sweet summary, it was one of the better conventions I have seen. The speakers were diverse and well spoken. Which is good, because one of the common arguments is that that republicans are a " bunch of old white guys" which simply is not true. The other big thing I saw was the speakers showing another side of Mitt that we hardly ever see. They explained his caring and compassionate side. There were many stories about all the good things he has done. One thing I did not realize was is how bad the prep for the Salt Lake City Olympics was until Romney took over the project. All of these stories made me feel better about Romney as a person.
Of course the night would not be complete without a little bit of political humor. I personally think Clint was the best speech of the night. His speech showed what he thought Obama was doing incorrectly while throwing in a couple one liners. The video is roughly twelve minutes long and I think it gives good insight into the republican mind. Here is the link. I think its a little funny and a little strange. Eastwood will probably get a lot of heat for this video, but it should serve as a rallying cry for republicans.

Introduction
Growing up I hated politics. I only saw it as grown people arguing over stupid stuff. As I grew I begin to see meaning in the arguments. I saw that these people were discussing real things that affected not only me and my family, but people around the world! How can that not be exciting? Well besides the fact that to find the truth one must sift through all of the political banter and do time consuming research.
This blog will center around US politics although when exciting world political issues come up I'll probably discuss them. This is an exciting time of the year in the US. There is a presidential election in November. Now more than ever citizens need to be informed of the facts and not the bloated figures from the politicians themselves.
As this is a political blog one can't but help show a little of their political bias but I will keep that to as little as possible.
